Fine Lines & Wrinkles

One of the most common signs of aging is fine lines and wrinkles. They can be caused by repeated facial movements, sun damage, or loose skin. Treatment options for facial wrinkles and fine lines depends on the location of wrinkles on the face, how deep the wrinkles are, and the cause of the wrinkles. For example, the radiating smiles lines and folds found between the mouth and the ear along the lower cheek are caused from skin laxity. If these lines are fine, they can be improved with ablative laser treatments like the Encore CO2 Fractional laser or by the Erbium laser. If they are deep, a facelift is required to pull out the laxity of the skin.

Fine lines and wrinkles in the upper face or the forehead, between the eyebrows (glabella), and along the sides of the eyes ("crow’s feet") are caused by repeated facial expression and best prevented and treated with Botox if the wrinkles are present without animation. If the wrinkles exist at rest, then sometimes additional treatments are necessary such as using fillers or other laser treatments.

As with most cosmetic procedures, a combination of treatments is usually the best option. A liquid facelift is a term used to describe the use of robust quantities of filler and Botox to give the appearance of a facelift. This procedure is very popular because no downtime is necessary afterwards.

After contemplating what to do about my skin conditions, I was recommended to try Dr. Retief. She has taken the “should I do this?” and allowed me to know what techniques are available to improve my 60-year-old appearance.
