Rosacea

Rosacea is a skin condition that most commonly appears in the face--taking many forms such as redness, acne, swelling, or dilated blood vessels.

A healthy diet is the most important treatment for rosacea. Gluten senstivity has been heavily linked to rosacea, especially in its most severe forms.

Probiotics are another very important treatment. You can get a daily dose of probiotics via supplements and eating Greek yogurt or Kefir.

Certain foods that trigger rosacea and should be avoided include:

  • Alcohol, particularly red wine
  • Spicy foods
  • Foods containing gluten
  • Highly acidic foods like tomatoes, citrus fruits, caffeinated drinks

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) combined with a series of intense pulsed light laser treatments can reduce redness and inflammatory lesions by killing the bacteria in the pores and reducing the size of the oil glands.

Since antibiotics are a short-term fix for rosacea, we limit use of them in our office, and prefer to use topical antiobiotic when needed.

BuffRX Calming Wash has also proven to be effective in treating rosacea.

Dr. Relief is very caring and kind. She truly makes you feel as if you were the only patient in the office! The best ever!
