elosThe new Syneron Elos Plus is the ultimate multi-application platform, combining numerous cutting edge treatments. Utilizing Syneron’s elōs technology, which combines optical energy and bipolar radiofrequency (RF), the Elos Plus is the next-generation aesthetic device that has been designed to treat all skin types safely and effectively.

Elos Plus incorporates Elos, the world’s first and only technology that incorporates both bipolar RF and optical energy (either laser or pulsed light). The combination of these two types of energy allows for better total energy delivery into the skin, with the ability to utilize lower levels of both optical and RF energy. Less optical energy, when synergistically combined with bipolar RF, improves safety for all skin types.

The Elos Plus is considered a ‘platform’ that integrates a number of different treatments. These treatments include:

Sublative Skin Rejuvenation

The Elos Plus can deliver Radiofrequency (RF) treatments that are considered the ‘next-generation’ in resurfacing. Unlike with many resurfacing lasers, Radiofrequency can be used in ALL skin types. These treatments are effective for rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction, and acne scar treatment. The Elos Plus provides advances over the previous eMatrix device.

What is Sublative?
Topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area to improve comfort level. After treatment, a variable degree of redness is to be expected, which usually resolves within a few hours to a few days. The treatment is usually well-tolerated. The total number of treatment sessions required depends on the skin conditions being treated.

What conditions may benefit from the treatment?
Sublative is effective for improving the appearance of facial skin, which include fine lines, facial wrinkles, scars, acne scars, skin tone, textural irregularities and superficial skin lesions.

How does Sublative work?
Bipolar radiofrequency energy is delivered precisely into the skin in tiny matrix spots. The energy waves can go directly into the dermal layer with minimal disruption of the epidermis, therefore reducing the redness and irritation associated with the treatment. The non-treated skin around the treated spots accelerates the healing process, and downtime is minimal. The energy stimulates collagen production and allows skin rejuvenation to be achieved. The degree of heating and ablation can be adjusted according to each patient’s need.

Is the treatment right for me?
In general, at least 3 treatments are recommended, each being performed 4 to 6 weeks apart. Topical anesthetic cream is applied before the treatment. Patient may feel a warm prickly sensation during treatment, which is usually well-tolerated. After treatment, slight redness, similar to a sunburn, is to be expected, which should resolve within a few days. The downtime is minimal compared to other ablative and non-ablative fractional laser treatment, so most patients can quickly resume their daily activities. The treatment has also been shown to be safe for all skin types.

Sublime Skin Contouring

The Sublime treatment combines infrared light and Radiofrequency (RF) energies to remodel the skin’s dermal layer by stimulating new collagen production.

Laser Facial (IPL)

Elos Plus combines Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) with RF which creates more specific heating of targets in the skin (blood vessels, redness, and brown spots). This allows the use of less optical energy, which increases treatment safety in even darker skin types.

Whereas photoaging from sun exposure occurs due to the damaging effects of the ultraviolet light, more specifically, the UVA and UVB components of sunlight, the IPL photofacial treatment uses the higher wavelengths of light, mostly in the visible range, to rejuvenate the skin and counter the effects of photoaging. IPL Photofacial involves a non-ablative (not peeling or removing top layers of the skin), innovative, light-based treatment that applies a carefully calibrated and filtered light to the skin to seek out specific targets on the skin surface. These targets could be pigmented spots, superficial blood vessels and even hair follicles. IPL Photofacial is an ideal treatment for skin care concerns ranging from sun spots and hyper pigmentation, to Rosacea andbroken capillaries. Having regular photofacials is a great way to keep the skin glowing, fresh, even-toned and beautiful throughout the year. With adequate skin aftercare, the results often last for years.

Many of our patients who have had previous IPL photofacials at other medical spas, laser institutes, or cosmetic surgery centers are enormously impressed and pleasantly surprised with results they observe after only one IPL treatment session, and say that the improvement in their skin complexion is more significant than that they have noticed in the past after having several IPL / photofacial treatments. In fact, many patients experience such a dramatic improvement in skin complexion that they discontinue using daily make up to hide their facial skin blemishes. Getting consistent, safe and robust results with IPL treatments requires significant expertise and experience, as the treatment is very easy to underdo or overdo. At Retief Skin Center, Dr. Retief uses the Sciton BBL technology, a leading manufacturer of IPL devices, and takes pride in personally performing all IPL treatments to give his patients the best possible outcomes with each procedure.

Skin Rejuvenation ADVANCED For:

  • Freckles
  • Age Spots
  • Brown & Red Spots
  • Sun Damage
  • Spider Veins

A lot of people frequently ask us what the difference is between IPL (Intense Pulse Light), BBL (Broad Band Light), and FotoFacial laser treatments and the answer is …they are all the same! At Retief Skin Center, we have the newest, most advanced IPL system. FotoFacial-RF, also known as Intense Pulsed light, Fotofacial or Photofacial is a secret weapon for reversing many skin pigmentation issues and can also greatly benefit people struggling with acne. FotoFacial-RF rejuvenation successfully treats uneven skin tone, freckles, brown and red spots, broken blood vessels, spider veins, birth marks, as well as discoloration and fine wrinkles caused by sun damage. Since the FotoFacial uses gentle pulses of two targeted energies, this means better results with lower overall energy output – assuring the highest level of safety and comfort. After a treatment with the FotoFacial, the dark spots will appear dark – this is a sign that the treatment is working. (The laser works by drawing these pigments to the surface) After approximately 10 days, these darkened areas will disappear completely.
